Wesley and His Walker

Wesley seems to pick up some things a little late (crawling, etc) but once he figures them out it's full speed ahead. Here's a video of him walking with his new walker. Watching him crash that thing into everything already makes me a little scared for him to start driving.

Baby #2

Wesley is going to be a big brother!!! I am 13 weeks along for all of you who are just finding out the news and due September 8th. This pregnancy has still been rough but it's been different which makes me think maybe it's a girl. With Wesley, all I craved were fatty salty foods and this time it's fatty sweet foods:) I eat waffles for dinner and brownies for breakfast, you name it! Anyway, we are so excited! The little munchkins will be 20 months apart, so a little close but I think they will love it!

Wintertime

Here is what we have been doing during this winter!

Taking warm bubble baths:)
Bugging daddy during work and drinking out of his water bottle. I think he makes a pretty cute WellSteps model!
Taking some very long naps:)
Getting into Mommy and Daddy's things
Taking shaving notes from Daddy
Pulling himself up on anything he can reach!
Visiting the Aquarium
Biting through the crib like a little beaver
And last but not least, playing in the snow!

Christmas

This post is a little late but I am trying to catch up! When my parents were here for Wesley's birthday we decided to head down to the Riverwoods and check out the lights. There were some very beautiful trees!
As you can see above Wesley is like "alright, let's get this over with!"......he could care less about Santa:) I guess it's better than being totally freaked out!
First time playing in the snow!
I had to post this. Wesley is so infatuated with teeth and gums. We think he is going to take over the family dental practice....guess Brent won't be able to retire for a while!
On our way to an ugly sweater party for Ryan's work. Although I think Wesley looks adorable in his sweater, he is making a pretty goofy face.
From Utah snow to California sun!
Christmas morning going through his stocking.
What have we here?!
That is the first time we have given Wesley any kind of sugar like that. He was devouring that sucker. We of course only let hime suck on it for a few minutes, it was Christmas morning.....he HAD to have some sugar!
His activity cube from the grandparents!
After church on Christmas day
Friends! We had a friend get together while we were in California and I finally got to meet little Lila, isn't she just a doll? Even cuter in person if you can imagine that! It was so fun catching up with everyone!
Wesley LOVED "skiddy" the kitty. As you can see she is hiding behind him, smart move cat!
This is how we rang in the new year! A couple of frozen pizzas and some redbox movies. Wesley came down with a fever of 103 that afternoon so we decided it was best to lay low and relax. It ended up being a lot of fun!

Happy 1st Birthday Wesley!

Wesley turned 1 on December 20th and so we threw him a party about a week before. Here are some of the highlights!

His dinosaur birthday cake that I poured my heart and soul into:)....totally worth it by the way!
Mmmmm yummy cupcakes!! My cousin Allison gave me some great tips when making them. Thanks again Allison, they were delicious!
Jelly filled ones too!
Presents! Unfortunately Wesely was cutting a tooth the day of his party so we had to do things out of order because he was a bit grumpy. Presents, then cake. I guess it was his party.
More presents!

Wesley was NOT shy about digging into that cake! What a boy!
Mmmm oh SO good!
The after math (poor dino)
These next couple of pics were taken on his real birthday.
We gave him a puzzle, he has seemed to like it. Probably not his favorite toy, but I think it will be good for him as he gets a little older. He can take them out, I guess that's a start.
Great Grandma Maggie gave him this molding kit for his birthday so we immortalized his handprints:) He seemed to like it.
Since we had already given him a very sugar-filled cake at his party, we decided to make some healthy homemade blueberry muffins for his birthday. He didn't mind!
Happy 1st Birthday my little man!!

The Rooster

So Wesley has these two really weird cowlicks right at the crown of his head. As you can see in the picture above, it makes his hair grow straight up and that is what we call...."The Rooster." So I say to Ryan the other day "Honey, I think we need to cut the rooster." His response..."Nooooooo!" Ryan is a bit attached, but it had to go!!
Before
After
Luckily, we just found out that when you hold his hands and practice walking with him he walks just like a little rooster. So he hasn't lost his identity completely!

The Latest....

I have not posted anything new for a while, so here is what we have been up to lately.
Wesley LOVES cucumbers!
Being silly
Wesley also loves watching The Sing Off with mommy and daddy;)
This was the night of our 4 year wedding anniversary....oh how things have changed! :)Our romantic dinner together!...We actually went to the temple that morning and did sealings and Merrill J. Bateman was our sealer. He was the president of BYU when Ryan first started and also has been a member of the seventy. It was a neat experience! We also got to go to lunch and then go shopping while my grandparents watched Wesley, so we did get some alone time!
So cute! Wesley working out with daddy.
Ryan was making these weird robotic noises the other night and Wesley was going hysterical.
Checking out the Christmas tree for the first time
Yesterday Ryan really wanted to get out of the house so we drove over to Camp Floyd State Park. It was only about a 15 minute drive. This was where Johnston's army camped after they came to suppress the supposed Mormon Rebellion in what is called the Utah War. They agreed to set up camp outside of the Salt Lake Valley and stayed there with 1/3 of the U.S. Army. They remained there until the Civil War started. This is a picture of pretty much what remains of the area. It was called the Stagecoach Inn and some famous people stayed there including Mark Twain and Porter Rockwell.
Wesley and I getting a closer look at the horses.
