A couple of days before Lydia was born I was so miserable. My hips were achy, my back felt like it was going to break, and I was just down right grumpy 24/7. So when Wednesday arrived I thought to myself, ok let's start doing all the tricks to get this baby out! That day I picked up my sister Crystal from BYU and took her grocery shopping. After, we got lunch and I ordered something extra spicy. That evening after dinner, we went on a walk that was over an hour and I pushed the stroller the entire time, even up the hills:) After cleaning the entire house, I went to bed.
I honestly didn't think that I was going to have a baby the next day but at 3:15am I felt a POP! I wasn't quite sure if it was my water breaking so I got up and went to the bathroom but nothing seemed to come out. So I went back to bed. As I was laying there, I just thought that it had to be my water so I got back up and what do you know?....it was like Niagra Falls, water all over the bed and floor! Ryan wasn't so hastey to get out of bed this time around, so he continued sleeping while I sat on the toilet letting the water drain. I called the midwife and she said to labor at home as long as I felt ok but after about an hour and a half the contractions got intense so we headed in.
When we got to the hospital it had been 2 hours since my water broke and I was already dialated to a 4. About an hour later I was a 5 and I received an epidural. Now that the pain was gone the time flew by and an hour had passed. The nurses did a shift change and when the new nurse came in she couldn't get a reading on the baby's heartbeat, so she decided to check me. When she checked she said "no wonder I can't get a reading, her head is right there and you are ready to push!" Wow, already to push after only 4 hours of labor! Unfortunately the midwife wasn't at the hospital yet so I had to hold her in for another 20 minutes. But once she arrived with a couple of pushes, Lydia was born!

I couldn't have asked for a smoother labor & delivery. The one major problem following the birth was that I got a spinal headache that lasted the following week, but Lydia was strong and healthy so that was the most important part. We love our little girl and we are so glad she is finally here!
